What the results are

A decoded date, size or refrigerant code is our reading of a rule that a manufacturer or a government agency has published. It is not a statement by the manufacturer about your unit, and it can be wrong, for example when a unit uses a format that is not documented, when a character is misread, or when a source changes. A date printed on the plate itself takes precedence, and the manufacturer is the authority on its own products. Service-life figures are published estimates and thresholds, not predictions for your equipment.

No professional advice

The site gives general information. It is not engineering, legal, insurance, real estate or financial advice, and it does not replace an inspection. Work on gas, electrical or refrigerant parts must be done by a licensed technician.

No warranty

The site is provided as it is, free of charge. We take care to keep the rules accurate and current but give no warranty that the content is complete, correct or available at all times. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for decisions made on the basis of the site.
